International standard epilepsy treatment and research on the use of new antiepileptic drugs
The Chulalongkorn Comprehensive Epilepsy Center of Excellence (CCEC) was established in 2011. It was formerly named as “The Comprehensive Epilepsy Treatment Project” from 1994.
Its initial service was international standard epilepsy treatment and research on the use of new antiepileptic drugs including the development of epilepsy treatments through surgery. CCEC is the first place where epilepsy surgery is managed in Thailand and the ASEAN region.
Vision
Chulalongkorn Comprehensive Epilepsy Center of Excellence aims to;
- Be the Comprehensive Epilepsy Center of Excellence with Advanced Technology Equipments.
- Be the Network Hub of Telemedicine for Epilepsy Treatment.
- Be the Training Center for Medical Personnel in Epilepsy and EEG Examinations.
Mission
- To establish the high-density electroencephalography (dEEG) and Quantitative EEG (qEEG) center.
- To develop Stereoelectroencephalography (SEEG) program.
- To develop structural and functional imaging (PET/SPECT/fMRI) service and researches using advanced technology softwares
- To set up the telemedicine network system for epilepsy care.
- To establish the training center for medical personnel in epilepsy and EEG examinations.

Services
There are 2 main departments in Chulalongkorn Comprehensive Epilepsy Center of Excellence;
1. Outpatient care
- Electroencephalography unit
- Routine EEG
- 256-channel high-density EEG (dEEG)
- Neuropsychological test
- Epilepsy Clinic (Old case patients)
- New case clinic
- Vagus nerve stimulation clinic
2. Inpatient care
- 24-hour Video-EEG monitoring (VEM). For evaluating the origin of seizures for surgery in patients with drug-resistant epilepsy.
- Continuous EEG monitoring for critically ill patients.
