The Endoscopic Nasal and Sinus Surgery Excellence Center, King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital started with the management of the Endoscopic Nasal and Sinus Surgery team of King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital 20 years ago. Not only nasal and sinus surgery, the endoscopy has supported other complicated surgeries such as eyeball and brain.  

The Endoscopic Nasal and Sinus Surgery Excellence Center, King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital was formed on July 8^th, 2010. The Excellence Center has been continuously developing its service and advanced technology equipment since nasal and sinus surgery was introduced for the first time in Thailand. There was nasal and sinus surgical training in the donated body in 1999 and such training has continued to the present, resulting in a great reputation for this Excellence Center internationally. There was also a 1 – year clinical fellowship course in rhinology, allergy and the skull base in 2006.

Later, the program was lengthened into a 2 – year course in 2015 for the expansion of knowledge, efficiency of surgery skill and dimensional expertise in R&D. The PhD and International Masters Degree of clinical science in rhinology was increased. Currently, the Endoscopic Nasal and Sinus Surgery Excellence Center is recognized as the leading center in ASEAN.

The Endoscopic Nasal and Sinus Surgery Excellence Center aims to be recognized as the leading center in Asia.

Mission

1. To provide diagnosis, medical care and surgery as well as the transfer center for patients with nasal and sinus diseases who require endoscopic surgery.
2. To provide the clinical fellowship course of otolaryngology, the allergy and allergology course and the Clinical Fellowship in Rhinology.
3. To manage the Asian workshop of nasal and sinus cadaver dissection.
4. To develop R&D projects about endoscopic nasal and sinus surgery.

The Endoscopic Nasal and Sinus Surgery Excellence Center, King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital is under the Department of Otolaryngology, Faculty of Medicine, Chulalongkorn University.

Services

The Endoscopic Nasal and Sinus Surgery Excellence Center, King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital provides a comprehensive service about nasal and sinus treatment including allergic inflammation, inflammation from an infection, structural abnormalities and tumors with endoscopy.  The laboratory, computer tomography by cone beam system and medical treatment including the surgery at neighboring areas of nasal and sinus diseases are provided.

The examples of using endoscopy in surgery are :

1. Sinus surgery, including inflammation, rhinitis and tumors.
2. Down-sizing surgery of the bones in the nose to solve a stuffy nose.
3. Corrective surgery of a crooked nose bridge.
4. Corrective surgery of the lower lacrimal duct disease.
5. Eye surgery to fix bulging eyes in bulging goitre.
6. Eye Surgery to reduce optic nerve pressure.
7. Nasal Surgery to tie blood vessels in posterior nosebleed disease.
8. Nasal surgery to repair the leak between the nose-sinus and the anterior cerebral base.
9. Surgery of the pituitary gland.

It is also the transfer center for patients with nasal and sinus diseases for endoscopic surgery.
