The Public Relations Department, formerly titled as Public Relations Unit, was established in 1982, within the Secretaries Department. Later, there was a restructuring of the manpower framework within King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital for work efficiency enhancement. The Public Relations Unit therefore was renamed the “Public Relations Department” according to the Thai Red Cross Society Order 1518/2007 from December 26, 2007 onwards.

The Heads of the Department were listed accordingly as follows,

  1. Ms. Wanida Lawakul, Head of Public Relations Unit 1982 – 1986.
  2. Ms. Jongwadi Chatrungruang, Head of Public Relations Unit, 1986 – 2007.
  3. Ms. Jongwadi Chatrungruang, Head of Public Relations Unit, 2008 – 2013.
  4. Mr. Teerpone Yincharoen, Head of Public Relations Unit , 2015 – present.

The Public Relations Department aims to publicize  hospital information and services through various communication channels, both internally and externally, as well as to effectively coordinate with the Government and private sectors for corporate branding and reputation enhancement in a sustainable way.

Mission

Our Mission is to manage the public relations, communicating the medical and occupational health knowledge of King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital through various communication channels both directly and indirectly in accordance with the corporate vision and mission. We also aim to create a positive acknowledgement and medical access to targeted groups efficiently and effectively while achieving the activity management for good corporate branding.

Structure / Subunits of the Department

The Public Relations Department of King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital, the Thai Red Cross Society, is managed and supervised under the assistant corporate branding director of King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital, and the public relations director. The department is divided into 2 sub-divisions as follows.

1. Public relations work.

2. Service advice and communication.

  • Operator work.
  • Information service at the public relations counter. (Bhor Por Ror Building, Sor Thor Building and Bhumisirimangalanusorn Building).

Services

1. Service advice and communication:  There are 2 sub-sections as follows:

1.1 Call center work (operators)

Telephone communications, receiving calls in and making outgoing calls, call center, calling service, providing information, meetings, special events, coordinating the information transferring among various departments within the Thai Red Cross Society as well as the intercommunication of the announcement of Code CPR 155, calling and coordinating medical information on duty, public relations communication upon occasions such as a fire drill, emergency drill, notification of fire incidents in King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital. VVIP patient reception coordination, SMS communication, and others as assigned.

1.2 Information service at the public relations counter.
(Bhor Por Ror Building, Sor Thor Building and Bhumisirimangalanusorn Building).

Information Center for inquiries and services, inquiries via telephone, information checking via the computer system, directions to the Hospital- route direction within the hospital area, the urgent queue card issuing, lost and found information center, Relative tracking, Lor Chula magazine publication and other publishing works, announcements about card suspension of various examination classes, communication screens of the Bhor Por Ror building as well as special events and other task management as assigned.

2. Public relations work as follows

2.1 Publicizing information and knowledge through all branches of the media via various types of news channels such as newspapers, TV stations, posters, vinyl boards, social media, Line, the ‘Tid Chor Ror Chula’ TV program, Facebook fan pages, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. The news being communicated is such as social news, public health news, intercommunicating for patients’ relatives, recruiting, staff appreciation, as well as charity programs to support various projects of the hospital.

2.2 Photographing, interviews with doctors, patients, and related staff. Mass media coordination for external communications with media broadcasting such as TV channels, Radio stations (Chula Radio, Thai News Agency, Radio of Thailand, etc.).

2.3 Press conferences for information sharing of medical success and medical innovation to the public. Coordinating with relevant doctors for information, still images, pictures, videos to summarize and prepare press releases for conferences as well as conference management, meeting break arrangements and parking lot management.  

2.4 Media management in case of an emergency and  mass patient admission due to unexpected incidents such as a fire incident, a building collapse, etc. The Department also takes charge of patient information preparation for press release summaries, including the press kit releases to media and public.  

2.5 Manuscript preparing for media, such as hospital introduction videos and procedures for patient care by various departments.

2.6 Hospital’s website management  and internal journals such as Ror Chula magazine, annual reports of King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital and the Thai Red Cross Society as well as a commemorative book on special occasions.       

2.7 Taking still images and films to support the operation of departments within the hospital.  Supervision and communication among departments and medical knowledge sharing with the public.

2.8 Supporting music therapy activities from university students, artists, actors, etc. to heal patients’ mentality and pain release, corporate image enhancement.
