Department of Preventive and Social Medicine

King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital

A health promotion service for people, specific protection , early diagnosis and treatment.

The Preventive and Community medicine Clinic was established in 1983 by Prof. Dr. Pairat Deesujit as the pioneer. It was first located in the electrocardiogram room within the Internal Medicine Department building. The aim in establishing the clinic was to provide health prevention and promotion to the general population by providing early diagnosis and prompt treatment, immunization, pre-employment examination and treatment for sexually transmitted diseases.

Later in 1984 the clinic was moved to Chakrapong Building while the number of circulating physicians in the preventive and social medicine department gradually increases. The outpatient department was relocated again to the 2nd floor of Bhor Por Ror Building in 1988 to accompany the increase in number of patients as well as initiating service for medical students, occupational health clinic, and pre-employment examination for staff members of the Thai Red Cross society. In 1996, a program aimed to improve health service for people who will be working abroad was launched, while an off-site health check-up service was later established in 1997. Today, the preventive and social medicine clinic is now stationed at the 16 th floor of the Bhor Por Ror Building, King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital.
