The inpatient care department at Chulalongkorn Hospital and Thai Red Cross provides services for patients seeking emergency care and have been screened and diagnosed by doctors to confirm necessary treatment at the hospital and as well as patients with appointments for treatment or surgery (Electivecase) following the patient’s treatment plan and various departments such as orthopedic surgery, Obstetrics-Gynecology, Ophthalmology, Otolaryngology, Radiology, and Internal Medicine-Pediatrics as well as patients being transferred from other hospitals (Refer)

To ensure a quick and convenient experience, Chulalongkorn Hospital suggests preparing as follows 

Preparation before your hospital stay

  1. Personal medication that is regularly taken.
  2. Patients going into surgery and are taking medication to dissolve blood clots must stop taking them 7 days before being admitted to the hospital.
  3. Preparing patient identification including (but not limited to) a birth certificate (for children under 7 years old), civil servant ID card for monks, a passport, a referral/transfer forms from your organization (state enterprise, a private organization), treatment forms from your health insurance (including 30 baht), and social security insurance passed on from other hospitals.
  4. Preparing personal items (toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, hair shampoo, comb)
  5. Arrange outfits for when the patient is discharged from the hospital.
    • Patients that do not have any relatives around are still eligible for treatment.
    • Foreign patients being hospitalized and are being treated for a long period of time, Chulalongkorn Hospital will help coordinate with the Department of Consular Affairs later.

Treatment services and rights for inpatients

  1. Government officials receiving treatment that requires direct reimbursement from Chulalongkorn Hospital.
  2. Patients eligible for the 30 baht health insurance and social security registered at Chulalongkorn Hospital
  3. Patients who are eligible for the 30bht health insurance and social security from other hospitals where treatment is not covered by the original Hosptial registered. Patients will be informed on a case by case basis. 
  4. Patients from Public enterprises or private organizations.
      • Must have hospital transfer forms for treatment.
      • Advance payment for reimbursement.
  5. Emergency treatment patients are eligible to use their emergency social security rights within 72 hours or the 30 baht health insurance. Emergency cases will be determined according to the patient’s condition.
  6. Patients using cash. 

Patient criteria for admission and treatment from the Chulalongkorn Hospital.

  1. Patients who have been screened by a nurse and sent for treatment according to the disease.
  2. Patients who are treated and are in need of further treatment or hospitalization. The patient’s corresponding doctor will coordinate and arrange for the patient’s stay. 
  3. For Emergency patients being hospitalized, a doctor will arrange for the patient’s stay while the patient’s relatives fill out hospitalization forms.
  4. For patients not in a critical condition, A doctor will schedule a date for admission. The patient’s relatives must fill in a request for a bed and will be contacted back to inform the patient’s admission date for treatment, surgery, blood collection, and examination medication restriction. (In the case that the patient undergoes surgery).
