Chula Neuroscience Center at  King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital was established on 24th September, 2018. It consists of multidisciplinary medical sciences including  neurology, neurosurgery, neuroanatomy, neuro-ophthalmology, neuroscience, neuro-otolaryngology, pediatrics neurology, rehabilitation medicine, Radiology, pharmacology, pathology, and physiology.

The Chula Neuroscience Center is therefore the first excellence center of King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital that has multidisciplinary teams of expert in neuroscience. The center also shares its network to various centers such as epilepsy center, movement disorder center, and stroke center.

To become the Regional Multidisciplinary Neuroscience center using advanced and comprehensive technology.

Mission

  1. Provide knowledge in neurology and neuroscience to serve clinical practice.
  2. Develop disease prevention program, medical care and rehabilitation in neurological patients.
  3. Educate physicians and graduates to become experts in basic neuroscience and clinical neuroscience.
  4. Develop a network which connects neuroscience with other departments to generalize and apply knowledge of neurology both nationally and internationally.
  5. Provide academic services to society.

Service

Chula Neuroscience Center provides the integrated medical care focusing on utilizing advanced medical technology along with the scientific-based and well-designed screening programs for neurological diseases (Screening Package) for those at risk or concerned about neurological diseases such as stroke, Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease. Disease prevention and treatment are provided patients with neurological diseases and those at risks. It also includes both imported technology and innovations developed inhouse. The services provided in our center include.

1. Functional Near-Infrared Spectroscopy (fNIRS).

Functional Near-Infrared Spectroscopy (fNIRS) is a machine use to measure function of the brain using the principle of near infrared absorption in real Time.

2. Carotid Duplex Ultrasound and Transcranial Doppler Ultrasound.

  Both carotid duplex ultrasound and transcranial Doppler ultrasound are used to measure the flow of blood in the vessels of the neck and brain respectively . 

3. Optic Coherence Tomography Angiography – OCTA.

Optic Coherence Tomography Angiography – OCTA  is used to analyze the changes of the optic nerve veins within a 5 minute scanning.

4. Posturography.

The device is used for analysis and rehabilitation in patients with dizziness and imbalance problems through sensory organization, motor control and adaptation test. 

In addition, a biomedical engineering room is provided at Chula Neuroscience Center to support all forms of research, as well as the telemedicine for patients with disability due to neurological disease in order to reduce patients cost and burden of arriving to the hospital in person.
