King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital

Responsible for medical care in patients with emerging and recurrent diseases, which is important to be well-prepared for in the case of a pandemic.

“Thai Red Cross Emerging Infectious Diseases Clinical Center” was established by a Committee of the Emerging Infectious Disease Center that recognizes the importance of emerging and recurrent diseases, which is important to be well-prepared for in the case of a pandemic. The Center was approved to be a part of King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital, the Thai Red Cross Society, being responsible for medical care in patients with emerging and recurrent diseases. The training and preparedness drills are held in case of an incident of emerging and recurrent diseases. The 3rd Floor and 4th Floor of Jongkolnee Watwong Building were renovated in 2017 for the administrative office. At Floor 3, 3 units were formed:

  1. EID office
  2. EID Clinic
  3. AI Clinic

The EID Unit was set up at Floor 4. 

Later the following units were consecutively brought into service as follows:

  • EID office, 23rd April 2019.
  • AI Clinic, 23rd April 2019.
  • EID Clinic, 1st January 2020.
  • EID Unit, 1st January 2020      

Vision

We aim to control the disease spreading/new disease species that are spreading faster and more severely by clinical work or patient services by building preparedness, medical equipment and operations for more effective emerging infectious diseases as well as disease spreading prevention to other patients and medical personnel.

Mission

  1. To provide standard medical care to patients with emerging and recurrent diseases and disease spreading prevention.
  2. To plan, train and hold emerging infectious diseases preparedness.
  3. To educate the public, medical personnel and society about emerging infectious diseases.
  4. To create a network of medical care for patients with emerging and recurrent diseases.
  5. To create R&D projects for medical care and disease control.

Service

King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital, the Thai Red Cross Society, established the Thai Red Cross Emerging Infectious Diseases Clinical Center to provide clinical service and an emerging infectious diseases ward for medical care preparedness to the patients suspected of having an emerging infectious disease.

Apart from medical innovation in emerging and recurrent diseases, to create knowledge and understanding of infectious disease control for the hospital personnel is the major mission to develop Thai Red Cross Emerging Infectious Diseases Clinical Center as the prototype medical service in patients with an infectious disease to other medical institutes all through Thailand for joint pandemic control in the future.
